ESPN Hires Abby Wambach As Analyst and Reporter

Abby Wambach is on her way to ESPN! The 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist, has agreed to a multiyear deal which will include work as an analyst and contributor across ESPN’s various shows and platforms, according to ESPN Media Zone.

In her new role, Wambach will cover international sporting events including the UEFA European Football Championship in France and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Additionally, she will contribute to ESPN Films projects and feature reports, and other programs such as E:60 and Outside the Lines where she will expand her profile as a reporter. The company plans to have her add bi-weekly ESPN Audio podcast, Fearless Conversation with Abby Wambach. The debut is expected to take place later this month.

“My soccer career has provided me with a lot of different experiences that brings more than Xs and Os to the table,” said Wambach. “I’m excited to join ESPN and to have the opportunity to tell stories that transcend soccer.”
