Lions Let Go of Exec Who Moved The Team’s Radio Rights

The Detroit Lions have parted ways with Elizabeth Parkinson, Detroit’s senior vice president of marketing and partnerships. Parkinson had been with the Lions since 2012. She was in the news for the Lions’ split with 97.1 The Ticket (WXYT-FM), their longtime radio partner.

Parkinson was the key negotiator in the broadcast deal and said she chose to move the team’s rights to WJR-AM because the offer was better, though WXYT hosts have contended it was over the club’s failed attempts to censor the station. Host Mike Valenti claimed the Lions tried to have him fired.
