Tom Waddle and Marc Silverman, who have been working together for 10 years in Chicago on ESPN 10000 (WMVP-AM) have reached the top of the mountain. The duo led the entire sports/talk field in the market for the month of November, finishing first with Men 25-54, the station’s target demographic.
Program Director Adam Delevitt said “Waddle has really turned into the Johnny Morris of this era,”, comparing his No. 1 star to another former Chicago Bear who reigned as the city’s most popular sportscaster for decades.
Delevitt also said that the ratings were strong for midday host David Kaplan, who joined the radio station in September after being a fixture on WGN AM 720 for twenty years.
The top rated sports morning show belonged to 670 The Score’s “Mully and Hanley” which is hosted by Mike Mulligan and Brian Hanley. The pair finished second with Men 25-54.
The ratings picture should become even more competitive next year with the Cubs moving to The Score (replacing the less popular Chicago White Sox broadcasts).
