Tim Brando Joins Fox Sports

Fox Sports and CBS Sports have added key pieces to their football television coverage this fall, with the former tapping Tim Brando to call college games and the latter gaining the services of longtime referee Mike Careyas a rules expert for its NFL action.

Fox Sports executive producer John Entz announced Tuesday that veteran broadcaster Brando, who had been studio host of CBS’ “College Football Today” and a longtime recognizable voice on the net’s coverage of college basketball’s March Madness, has joined Fox Sports’ coverage of college football starting with the first week of the season. His broadcast partner will be announced at a later date.

During basketball season, Brando will call college games for Fox and Fox Sports 1.

“Tim is one of the most recognized voices in college sports,” Entz said. “Adding someone with his experience and credibility to our college football and basketball coverage is a fantastic addition for Fox Sports.”

Brando, who hosts a daily program, “The Tim Brando Show,” on Sirius XM Radio, has called more than 25 different sports during his prolific career, including college football and basketball, and he has called games of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament since 1996.

In addition to his high-profile role on “College Football Today” during the net’s coverage of the SEC game of the week, Brando did play-by-play for CBS Sports’ NFL coverage for several years and has done play-by-play for Raycom’s coverage of ACC basketball and hosted Raycom’s “Football Saturdays.”
